God provides

I needed to write a poem about God's provision for my bible lesson. This is what I wrote.

Jesus is my light and my way.
He gave me this very day.
He blesses me in many a way.
He lets me sleep and eat and play.

Prayer poem

I needed to create the 2nd and 4th lines to this poem for my bible lesson.

The Lord will hear you when you pray,
so pray to the Lord day by day.
He knows every need and care,
so put your needs to Him in prayer.

My last brownie badge

I had to do four things to get my last brownie patch. One of the things I had to do was was a dog. I had a lot of fun. :)
After I washed the dog I was able to play with the water. I had fun wetting Dad, he was good at getting the hose out of my hands. He did not get very wet but I still wet Hannah and Hezekiah.
Another fun thing I did was that I had to do was make music out of glass and water. I filled up wine glasses with water, then put my finger on top and took it round the top. It made a really pretty tingly sound. We found it interesting because the second to the left glass is a different shape, so it made a different sound. Hannah had fun doing it with me to.
What I found the funnest was making a tower out of ice. I tried just stacking ice but it was to slippery so I gave up. One day Mum asked if I had done it and I told her it was to hard. I said it was to slippery. She got me to think through it and I figured out you need moisture to get it to stick. So I wet the cubes and it was not that hard. My highest tower was with 13 pieces of ice.( This one is a tower of 9)

The last thing I did I don't have a picture for. I had to do a good turn.(Something you do without been asked by the person) I had to look after a neighbors chickens. My good turn was watering her plants so I did that for 3 days and I watered my dads plants for 4 days. I enjoyed watering the plants it made me feel responsible and smart.

The Prickle Patch

One of the badges I needed to do for my brownies is the prickle patch. I went to visit Mrs. Love and she showed me her cactus collection. She has been collecting cactus for over 40 years.
If you look carefully at the top of each of these there is a lighter section and that bit has grown in one year. I think this is the cactus I like most because of the little pink flowers.
With the cactus on the left it started off with just 2 branches. While on holiday once someone came and stole the branches by cutting the branches off, really low. It ended up growing better though, and it now has 6 branches.
And even another type of cactus.
This cactus gets very big flowers. The big brown things are the flowers that have died. More to the right the small green balls are the new flowers. Mrs. Love says these are her favourite cactus because of the beautiful smell of the flowers.
Mrs. Love gave me a cutting of this cactus to grow.
The pink things on this cactus are the fruit, they are called prickly pears. When my mum was a girl she used to eat them.
I was able to take home some cactus to grow. I planted these on the 7th of December.
I enjoyed planting the cactus. I seem to be very sensitive to smells. I could smell the cactus and I did not like the smell.
A flower is growing on one of the cactus. This was taken on 20 January 2016
The flower opened. 24 January.
I love the shade of yellow on this flower.
One of the other things I had to do was make a hedgehog from a pine cone, twigs leaves and stones. This was one of the things I enjoyed most.
I also had to dig up a thistle it was really hard but I managed to do it in the end.

All of the things I have not done before, and they were all very fun.

Hezekiah's friendly monster

Ruth made this "friendly monster" for Hezekiah.
He was so pleased with it and played with it for a couple of days before it fell apart.
Especially impressive as it stood on it's own.

Haiku poem about rain

Rain is pouring down.
Splashing, dripping, sopping wet.
Leaking, soggy boots.

3 course meal by Ruth

It was Ruth's turn to do her St John homework today and so she made us a 3 course dinner. Roast chicken and veggies got started early.
She was more creative than me and put apple and onion inside of the chidken.
While the oven was busy she got the table set and prepared the desert too.
She made salad for starters.
Some plates were a bit different to suit the different taste preferences (like with who likes or dislikes olives).

She took the chicken, carrots and celery out so that the potatoes could grill a bit.

And she cut the chicken and served it all herself too.

For desert she made a chocolate Zucchini bread. I took a few recipies on-line and came up with my own one. You can see the recipe here.
Rachel enjoyed this so much that she decided she wanted this for her birthday cake.
She also made some Date Balls (or Chocolate Fudge balls). I again saw a base recipe and adjusted it to suit our needs. The recipe is here.
These are a real success and Ruth has already had to make another batch. :-)

Thanks for the lovely meal Ruth. You did a great job.
